6500 UAH winter support: the government approved payments

6500 UAH winter support
Уряд затвердив виплати на зимову допомогу у розмірі 6500 гривень.

The government of Ukraine has approved one-time payments of 6500 UAH for the most vulnerable categories of citizens within the "Winter Support" program. The funds will be credited automatically through the Pension Fund, and the first payments will start at the beginning of December. The program provides assistance to over 660,000 people. Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko reported this.

Who will receive 6500 UAH winter support

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko noted that the assistance will be given to those who need support the most. The list includes:

  • orphans and children under guardianship;

  • children with disabilities in foster families;

  • children of internally displaced persons;

  • people with disabilities among IDPs;

  • lonely pensioners.

The funds can be spent on a specified list of products, including medicines, shoes, and clothing. This approach is aimed at ensuring targeted support and directing funds to basic needs.

Svyrydenko emphasized:

«The program is designed for people who need the most support».

What else the program provides

«Winter Support» was developed at the request of President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Ministry of Social Policy reported that two payment formats are provided:

  • 1000 UAH — for most Ukrainians who apply for assistance

  • 6500 UAH — automatically for vulnerable categories of citizens.

Applications for the 1000 UAH payment have been accepted since November, while the special payments of 6500 UAH will be credited automatically or conducted through the "Diia" application.

A similar initiative was already in effect in the winter of 2024 and was aimed at supporting citizens during rising costs and potential difficulties due to martial law. This year, the program is intended to help the population prepare for the cold season, especially families with children, the elderly, and those experiencing the war in difficult conditions.
