According to Велика українська енциклопедія: On December 8, we celebrate the 193rd anniversary of the birth of Bjornstjerne Martinius Bjornson, a prominent Norwegian writer and public-political figure. This man became a legend of Scandinavian historical drama, founded the International Peace Committee, and signed the national anthem of Norway. He received the Nobel Prize in 1903.

At the beginning of his career, he was a critic in theater and literature, but after the release of the novella 'Synnove Solbakken' in 1857, more and more people noticed his creative talent. After this work became a massive bestseller, Bjornson was able to live solely from his writings. His stories and novels were published in the magazine 'Illustrert Folkeblad', which he also edited. Fortunately, in the same year of 1857, this novella was released as a separate edition and amazed readers with its power.

Ukrainskaya Pravda. By the end of the 19th century, Bjornson was not only a distinguished writer but also an active figure who sought to influence society and promote the linguistic and cultural consciousness of the people through his works.
