Arseniy Yatsenyuk's Address at the Kyiv Security Forum

According to Главком: Speaking at the Kyiv Security Forum, Arseniy Yatsenyuk stated that Russia's war against Ukraine has now lasted 12 years, yet the aggressor has failed to achieve its objectives. He emphasized that throughout this period, Ukraine has demonstrated remarkable resilience and unity in its fight for its future. Yatsenyuk outlined five key tasks that could form the basis for a potential temporary ceasefire. His remarks come at a critical juncture, as international attention and support remain vital for Ukraine's defense.

  • The first requirement: The need to keep Ukraine's allies, particularly the United States, on the 'right side of world history.'
  • The second critical aspect: Sustained financial and military aid, which is crucial for continuing the fight.
  • The third point: The continued imposition of sanctions against Russia, aimed at weakening the aggressor.
  • The fourth condition: Providing Ukraine with the necessary weaponry to repel the aggression.
  • The fifth task: Maintaining unity within Ukraine itself, as only collective effort can ensure victory.

Yatsenyuk, who served as Ukraine's Prime Minister from 2014 to 2016, stressed the importance of collective action.

'This war has been going on for 12 years. That is twice as long as the Second World War. And for these 12 years, we have stood firm. Putin wanted to seize Ukraine in 2014 – he failed. He wanted to seize Ukraine in 2022 in 3 days – he failed at that too. He will not succeed in seizing Ukraine if we continue to act as we are – together, in coordination, and fighting for our future,' he stated.

Yatsenyuk also expressed hope that 'the world order can still be saved.' According to him, 'the only recipe for this is to do everything so that Ukraine wins, and Ukraine will win.' These statements underscore the critical importance of international support and domestic unity in achieving the ultimate goal – a Ukrainian victory in a war that has now lasted over a decade. The conflict, which began with the annexation of Crimea, has evolved into the largest ground war in Europe since 1945.

Yatsenyuk's address at the Kyiv Security Forum highlights the strategic importance of an international coalition for Ukraine in countering the aggression. His words reflect not only the challenges the country faces but also the pathways to peace through joint efforts and support from international partners. Given the conflict's duration, these key tasks could form the foundation for future actions both domestically and on the global stage.
