FIFA changes World Cup 2026 rules: mandatory water breaks in every match
According to glavcom.ua: FIFA has announced interesting innovations for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Canada, Mexico, and the USA. One of the main changes will be three-minute water breaks during each match of the tournament from June 11 to July 19, 2026. This innovation aims to protect players' health and prevent heat stress.
In addition, the game will be stopped at the 22nd minute of each half for a fluid replenishment, regardless of weather conditions or whether there is a roof over the stadium. It has also been announced that travel for teams and fans will be reduced, and days off between matches will be maximized.
These innovations make the 2026 World Cup more interesting and unique. The Ukrainian national team will also have the chance to experience the new format of playoff matches next year to qualify for the tournament. In the semifinals, our team will play against Sweden, and if victorious, they will face the winner of the Poland - Albania pair in the final.
