Anti-corruption briefing in power: high-profile cases of NABU and SAP over the week
Last week, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) investigated several high-profile cases in the energy sector.
One of the cases involved searches of the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine. There were also cases of bribery uncovered among a judge and a lawyer in Odesa. An organized group was uncovered, which seized 140 million hryvnias of budget funds for the restoration of heating and water supply in frontline cities in Donetsk region.
In addition, a case of corruption at JSC 'Ukrzaliznytsia' was considered and sent to court. Claims for the recovery of assets from the family of the former head of the tax office in Odesa, a former city council deputy in Sumy region, and the head of the village council in Rivne region were also satisfied.
The Appellate Chamber of the VAKS confirmed the legality of recovering the cost of an unjustified asset used by the head of the Southeastern Interregional Department for the Enforcement of Criminal Punishments of the Ministry of Justice.
The Appellate Chamber of the VAKS left unchanged the verdict against former officials of the capital tax inspectorate and a lawyer.
