Today, December 15, marks 173 years since the birth of the outstanding physicist Antoine Henri Becquerel. He was born in 1852 in Paris and was renowned for his research in the field of physics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1903 for his significant discoveries.



Becquerel worked at the Paris Academy of Sciences and headed it in 1908. His research covered various fields of physics, including optics, electromagnetism, chemistry, and radioactivity. The most famous discovery of the scientist was radioactivity, which he discovered in uranium salts in 1896, differing from ordinary luminescence.
