On the night of December 14, Ukrainian welterweight fighter Yaroslav Amosov (29–1) entered the UFC octagon. Amosov made his debut fight at the UFC on ESPN 73 tournament, where he faced experienced American Neil Magny (31–14). The fight didn't last long: the Ukrainian secured victory with a choke in the first round.
Before transitioning to the UFC, Yaroslav Amosov fought in Bellator, where he spent most of his career. His contract with Bellator ended in September 2024. This was the first fight for the Ukrainian since March of this year, when he defeated American Curtis Millender at the Cage Fury Fighting Championships 140 tournament in Philadelphia.
Ukraine entered the top 10 of the overall medal standings of the European Youth Olympic Festival, taking 10th place with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals. This is the second most successful performance of the team in the history of the Festivals since 1993.
Ukrainian athletes won medals in judo, swimming, athletics, taekwondo, shooting, artistic gymnastics, and table tennis. At the World Summer Universiade, the Ukrainian team placed 14th, winning 12 medals: 4 golds, 3 silvers, and 5 bronzes.
