Appointment of Andrii Demchenko
Andrii Demchenko has been appointed as the head coach of the Azerbaijani club 'Araz-Nakhchivan', signing a contract for five months with the option to extend. Demchenko, who is 49 years old, started his work with the new team by holding his first training session on January 5. This appointment marks an important step for the club, which currently sits in sixth place in the standings, having 26 points after 16 rounds.
Plans for the winter training camp
During the winter training camp in Baku, 'Araz' plans to play three friendly matches. The first official match under Demchenko's leadership will take place on January 23, when the team will meet 'Mil-Mugan'. Before moving to Azerbaijan, Andrii Demchenko worked at the club 'Zhenis', where the team finished sixth in the league and reached the semifinals of the national Cup.
Demchenko has experience working with Georgian clubs 'Dilu' and 'Dynamo' (Batumi), as well as the Uzbek club 'Obod'. In Ukraine, he coached 'Metalist 1925', PFC 'Lviv', and 'Veres'. This new appointment will pose a challenge for the coach, as 'Araz' aims to improve its results in the championship, staying ahead of 'Neftchi' by six points.
At the same time, the club 'Neftchi' has signed a contract with Yuriy Vernydub for a period of one and a half years, with a salary of 50 thousand dollars per month.
The appointment of Andrii Demchenko as the coach of 'Araz-Nakhchivan' reflects the club's proactive approach to improving its results in the national championship. Given that the team currently has a chance to rise in the standings, the new coach has an opportunity to showcase his coaching skills and influence the team's development in the coming months. Meanwhile, the competition with 'Neftchi', which has also changed its coach, may add intrigue to the championship and raise the level of competition for leadership.
