Russian President Vladimir Putin threatens with nuclear weapons when he feels his failures in aggression against Ukraine.

The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said this in an interview with PAP.

'It is obvious that someone who recklessly violates the UN Charter and international law and becomes desperate when things do not go as he wants, without hesitation threatens to use everything in his arsenal of terror,' he is convinced.

The EU and most of the international community reject Russia's irresponsible nuclear blackmail.

'And I think that those who make decisions in Moscow about the possible use of nuclear weapons have heard this,' Borrell emphasized.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin uses descriptions of heightened nuclear readiness to calm the internal nationalist audience and intimidate the West. The statements by the President of Russia regarding nuclear weapons, in particular, about the hypersonic warheads 'Avangard' or intercontinental ballistic missiles 'Sarmat', do not indicate preparation for their use, reports the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Putin stated that he wants to develop the nuclear triad of the Russian Federation. He called it a guarantee of preserving sovereignty at a meeting of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
