Competition at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics

On February 10, 2026, the fourth day of the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, gold medals were awarded in nine events across eight sports. Ukraine had yet to secure a place on the podium, a situation causing concern among the nation's supporters and sports analysts. The early days of an Olympics often see medal favorites emerge, setting the stage for the remaining competition.

In the short track mixed relay, Italy claimed gold, with Canada taking silver and Belgium bronze. In women's cross-country skiing, the individual sprint saw a Swedish sweep: Lynn Svan won gold, Jonna Sundling secured silver, and Maja Dahlqvist earned bronze.

In men's freestyle skiing slopestyle, Birk Ruud of Norway took gold, while Alex Hall of the United States won silver and Lucie Harrington of New Zealand bronze. The men's 20km biathlon event was won by Norway's Johan-Olav Botn, with silver going to Eric Perrot of France and bronze to another Norwegian, Sturla Lægreid.

In the men's cross-country individual sprint, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo of Norway won gold, Ben Ogden of the United States took silver, and Oskar Opstad Vike, also of Norway, claimed bronze. In the women's Alpine team combined event, Austria 2, featuring Ariadne Redler and Katharina Huber, won gold. Germany (Kira Weidle-Winkelmann, Emma Aicher) took silver, and the United States (Jacqueline Wiles, Paula Moltzan) secured bronze.

In mixed doubles curling, Sweden won gold, the United States took silver, and Italy earned bronze. In women's singles luge, Julia Taubitz of Germany won gold, Elina Bote of Latvia silver, and Ashley Farquharson of the United States bronze. Finally, in the mixed team ski jumping event, Slovenia took gold, Norway silver, and Japan bronze.

With 13 days of competition remaining, the Ukrainian team still has significant opportunity to improve its standing and secure medals at these Games.

Despite the lack of medals after four days, Ukrainian athletes still have time to enhance their performances. Many disciplines lie ahead in which Ukraine has the potential to excel.
