Expert warns against electric heaters this winter: what dangers the networks pose

Експерт попереджає про ризики використання електричних обігрівачів в холодну пору: які небезпеки ховаються в електромережах.

Against the backdrop of mass strikes by Russia on the Ukrainian energy system, experts advise the population to prepare for a 'harsh winter' and to use autonomous heating and energy sources.

'As for the 'black day', buying power banks and diesel generators has become justified. That day has come', - emphasized the expert.

Energy expert Viktor Kurtev stressed that the mass transition to electric heaters without centralized heating could lead to an emergency state of household electrical networks. He urged citizens to focus on full decentralization and autonomy, as generating capacities in Ukraine are continuously being destroyed.

The expert warned against switching to electric heating, as this could lead to overloads of household networks. He recommends using decentralized means such as diesel generators, charging stations, gas heaters, and alcohol stoves.

Focus on autonomous means

Kurtev urged citizens to use mobile means that do not depend on centralized networks, even in large frontline cities. He warned of the possibility of 'freezing' cities by Russia and recommends preparing for autonomy and using mobile solutions for survival in the cold period.

Experts advise Ukrainians to prepare for a 'harsh winter' due to strikes by Russia on the energy system. Citizens are recommended to use autonomous heating and energy sources, such as diesel generators and gas heaters, to ensure necessary comfort amid possible issues with centralized electricity supply.
