Andriy Yermak Faces Criminal Allegations

Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) have formally notified Andriy Yermak, the former head of the President’s Office, of suspicion in a case involving the laundering of 460 million hryvnias. This development places Yermak at the center of a high-profile corruption investigation that has captured public attention. His attorney, Ihor Fomin, has dismissed the charges as baseless, arguing that they were driven by public pressure rather than evidence.

Case Details and Defense Response

The case revolves around a luxury construction project on the outskirts of Kyiv. Alongside Yermak, six other individuals have been named as suspects, including a former vice prime minister of Ukraine and a prominent businessman. The charges stem from a special operation code-named 'Midas,' which was carried out in November 2025. Notably, on November 28, 2025, Yermak was dismissed from his role as head of the President’s Office amid the fallout from the so-called Mindichgate scandal.

Ihor Fomin: 'In my view, this entire situation has been provoked by public pressure. In all my career, I have never encountered such pressure—including on law enforcement agencies—to have Mr. Yermak notified of suspicion. As I see it, there are simply no grounds, no basis, and there can never be any basis for bringing criminal charges against him.'

The attorney also addressed questions about audio recordings allegedly linked to the case, stating: 'Recordings? What do we have to do with any recordings? Have you ever heard Mr. Yermak’s voice in any of them, even once?'

The case surrounding Andriy Yermak has sparked widespread public debate, highlighting ongoing concerns about the effectiveness of Ukraine’s anti-corruption framework. Despite the lawyer’s strong denials, questions persist regarding the legitimacy of law enforcement actions, which directly affect public trust in state institutions. Moreover, the political ramifications of this case could prove significant for Ukraine’s leadership landscape, particularly as the country approaches future electoral cycles.

In light of these serious allegations, it's essential to consider Yermak's recent comments addressing the accusations. He has publicly responded to the claims made by NABU, providing his perspective on the unfolding situation.
