Russia Uses Weather for Breakthroughs: Why This is Dangerous for the Front

Росія використовує погодні умови для досягнення стратегічних переваг: чому це становить загрозу для фронту.

Russian forces are increasingly using weather conditions to pressure Ukrainian positions. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), fog, precipitation, and cloud cover complicate the use of Ukrainian drones, giving the enemy an advantage on the front.

Dense fog has been crucial in the attempts of Russian forces to advance near Novopavlivka, allowing them to cross the pontoon bridge during bad weather.

The Ukrainian Army in a Difficult Situation

'The Russian use of weather reveals the weaknesses of Ukrainian defense and the need for traditional weaponry,' adds ISW.

The Ukrainian defense now heavily relies on drones, but bad weather limits their effectiveness. This puts the country in a difficult position on the front.

Recommendations to Strengthen Defense Capabilities

The Institute believes that Ukraine must immediately bolster traditional weaponry, including artillery, reconnaissance, and defensive positions, to reduce vulnerability to the enemy.

In addition, experts note that Russia is using artificial intelligence to create panic in the Pokrovsk area.
