Ukrainian Industrial Giant Interpipe Acquires First EU-Based Factory

Новий етап розвитку: Інтерпайп розширює свої горизонти, здобуваючи завод у Європі.

Acquisition of the AMTP Plant

Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has finalized a deal to purchase the ArcelorMittal Tubular Products (AMTP) plant located in Roman, Romania. This acquisition marks Interpipe's first manufacturing asset within the European Union. The AMTP facility specializes in producing large-diameter seamless steel tubes, ranging from 168.3 mm to 406.4 mm, which are in demand across European and global markets. This move is part of a broader trend of Ukrainian businesses seeking strategic footholds within the EU's single market.

Interpipe supplies goods to over 70 countries worldwide and maintains commercial offices in the Middle East, North America, and Europe. In 2024, the company reported a 61% reduction in specific CO2 emissions per ton of seamless pipe produced compared to 2010, alongside a 46% cut in CO2 emissions from its railway product manufacturing. Interpipe has also set decarbonization targets for 2030, underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability.

Expanding International Footprint

Luca Zanotti, a representative of Interpipe, stated that 'this integration will allow the company to strengthen its position in the EU and expand its international presence.'

The European freight wheel market is already a home market for the company, and the next strategic step will be an entry into the passenger wheel segment. This demonstrates Interpipe's ongoing expansion within the European railway products market and its ambition to become a significant industry player.

The purchase of the AMTP plant represents a major step for Interpipe in broadening its production capacity and solidifying its standing in the European market. Given the company's progress in reducing CO2 emissions and its decarbonization pledges, the acquisition also signals a strategic alignment with modern environmental standards. Diversifying its product range, including the planned move into passenger wheels, is likely to fuel the company's further growth on the international stage.
