Trends of Ukrainian refugees in Poland

According to statistics, Poland is second only to Germany, where approximately 1.2 million Ukrainians officially reside. In total, there are over 4.3 million people from Ukraine in the European Union who have been granted this status. Analysts point out that the growth in the number of refugees in Poland this year is occurring more slowly than in 2024, but the country remains one of the key destinations for Ukrainians.

According to the director of the analytical center Gremi Personal, Yuriy Grygorenko, the European Council's decision to extend temporary protection until March 2027 gives Ukrainians more confidence about the future. This allows them to plan for education, work, and integration into local communities. At the same time, experts note that current waves of migration are increasingly driven by economic reasons, although the security factor remains decisive.

Poland has become the country that accepts the most Ukrainian refugees in the European Union, with more than 992 thousand Ukrainian citizens having temporary protection status. This indicates the importance of Poland as a key destination for Ukrainian migrants who find in this country the opportunity to plan their future with a certain level of confidence, thanks to the extension of temporary protection until March 2027.
