Seven countries from Northern Europe and the Baltics have decided to support Ukraine with $500 million. This decision was made during a meeting of defense and foreign ministers in Helsinki. The countries, including Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland, will support the 'List of Priority Needs for Ukraine' (PURL) initiative.
Ministers expressed confidence in the importance of ensuring Ukraine's security for the stability of Europe. They plan to assist in developing defense capabilities and strengthening the defense capacity of the Ukrainian side in the face of Russian aggression.
'We are ready to support Ukraine, as the security of the country directly affects our own security,' the foreign ministers stated.
The PURL program aims to procure necessary defense equipment for Ukraine in order to enhance its resilience and defense capabilities in both conventional and conflict contexts with Russia, which threatens the security of Europe and the international order.
