Russian intelligence services continue their information operation in Syria, offering yet another 'mystical black box' with capsules, which allegedly contain dangerous 'chemicals' in the so-called Syrian 'black market for weapons'. Ukrainian intelligence warns that this is another episode aimed against Ukraine. This is reported by 'Glavkom' referring to GUR.
According to intelligence data, one of the capsules is labeled: 'PU.9424 U', and the other - 'HG25 P307 9.99 U92'. Thus, the Russians are reviving the old Soviet tale of red mercury (Hg) in addition to the fictional 'plutonium' (Pu) - a substance that does not actually exist.
Red mercury is a fabrication of Soviet intelligence services used for a large-scale disinformation campaign in the Middle East in the 80s and 90s of the 20th century. The legend, created in Moscow and aimed against foreign intelligence, claimed that this modification of a chemical element could become material for creating a 'terrifying' bomb.
'The hustlers from Lubyanka' (representatives of Russian intelligence services) convince that the container allegedly brought by them was purchased from 'corrupt officials of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense' for 'immediate sale'.
In addition to fake 'elements' for making a 'nuclear bomb', the Russians in Syria are offering ten capsules with allegedly 'unknown toxic gases'. In reality, these are reagents for an old chemical reconnaissance device that agents of the aggressor state have already attempted to sell previously as part of the same information operation against Ukraine.
Ukrainian GUR representative Andrey Yusov noted: 'Nothing new or original - Russian intelligence services are operating according to the templates of their predecessors from the 20th century. So the old mythology about 'red mercury' indicates the intensification of a genre crisis among Kremlin intelligence services.'
Russian intelligence services continue to use old disinformation schemes, offering fake 'chemical threats' on the 'black market for weapons' in Syria. Ukrainian intelligence emphasizes that this is aimed at amplifying the negative impact on the situation in the region and attempting to discredit Ukraine. According to experts, this is another example of Russia's hybrid war, which uses information and chemical threats to achieve its goals.
