The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia does not demand from Ukraine to grant the Russian language the status of a state language within the framework of a peace agreement. He made these comments to the channel 'Russia'.

In response to a journalist's question about the recognition of the Russian language during peace negotiations, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky answered that the state language is Ukrainian. He also emphasized the necessity to repeal laws that restrict the Russian language and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

In turn, Lavrov accused Western countries of trying to hinder negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, emphasizing that this poses a threat to the process initiated between Presidents Putin and Trump.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that the Ukrainian language is the state language of the country and has no plans to grant state status to the Russian language. Russia, for its part, denies this information and accuses Western countries of obstructing peace negotiations between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. These clashes deepen the strained relations between the countries and complicate the search for a peaceful resolution to the situation in eastern Ukraine.
