Maryna Poroshenko's New Business Ventures
Maryna Poroshenko, a member of the Kyiv City Council and the wife of Ukraine's fifth president, Petro Poroshenko, has registered eight new companies. Their primary business activity is real estate leasing. On May 7, 2023, she became the ultimate beneficiary of these firms, which were named:
- Li Malomochulka
- Li Kuna
- Li Nemyriv
- Li Pohrebyshche
- Li Horodkivka
- Li Dovzhok
- Li Zabolotne
- Li Klembivka
All eight companies are registered at 29A Elektrykiv Street in Kyiv, each with a charter capital of 1,000 hryvnias. Mykhailo Korytnyk has been appointed as the director of these firms; he also manages other companies registered by Maryna Poroshenko in 2024 and 2025.
Property Division Between the Poroshenkos
The division of assets between the Poroshenko couple concluded after a lengthy process lasting one year, which involved three trials at the court of first instance and three appellate court hearings. The Vinnytsia Court of Appeals ruled that the majority of the property, valued at 8.53 billion hryvnias, went to Maryna Poroshenko. Among the assets she received is a controlling stake (8,190 shares, or 78.93%) in the Prime Assets Capital fund, worth 8.33 billion hryvnias. Additionally, Maryna Poroshenko obtained funds from bank accounts that belonged to Petro Poroshenko: 34,000 euros, 39,890 US dollars, 813,500 hryvnias, and 19.84 British pounds. Her own funds in accounts amount to 1.25 million US dollars, 63,900 euros, 47,300 hryvnias, and 1.07 British pounds. She also received cash totaling 3.17 million euros.
Petro Poroshenko, in turn, received assets worth a total of 4.52 billion hryvnias. The former president's assets include a 2021 Honda CMX 1100D motorcycle, a 2001 King Trailers GTS443-17.5 semi-trailer, a 2021 Volvo S90 2.0 T8 car, and an unpaid portion of profits from Sequent Schweiz AG amounting to 20 million US dollars. Furthermore, Petro Poroshenko received 3.19 billion hryvnias in cash, as well as paintings and art objects valued at 100.4 million euros as of the date the lawsuit was filed. Just before the property division, Petro Poroshenko gifted his wife Maryna securities worth 988.71 million hryvnias.
This asset distribution not only reflects the couple's economic interests but could also influence their future political activities. Given the current political landscape in Ukraine, such assets and businesses may become key factors in shaping public image and voter influence. The registration of new companies might also signal Maryna Poroshenko's intention to become more actively involved in business and possibly political endeavors moving forward.
As Maryna Poroshenko embarks on her new business journey, it's essential to understand the broader context of the property division between her and her husband. The recent court ruling not only significantly impacted their financial standings but also highlighted the assets each party retained post-split.
