The situation with Matviy Safonov

Matviy Safonov, goalkeeper of 'Paris Saint-Germain', filed a complaint with the police regarding the actions of his ex-wife Anastasia, who is trying to recover legal expenses for the same contract. According to reports, Safonov settled his alimony debt in June 2025, paying over 64 million rubles, which is approximately equivalent to 800 thousand US dollars. This decision was a result of a commitment from the Nikulinsky Court in Moscow, which mandated the goalkeeper to pay 25% of his earnings for the maintenance of his daughter.

Safonov's representative, Andriy Kryuchkov, noted that they consider Anastasia's attempts as an abuse of rights. Given the amounts already paid, the lodged complaint with law enforcement may indicate an intention to protect their interests and avoid further unlawful demands.

Success of the Ukrainian national team

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian national team completed the first stage of the European qualifying for the World Cup by defeating the Icelandic team with a score of 2:0. In this match, the goals were scored by Zubkov in the 83rd minute and Hutsulyak in the 90+3. The next match for the Ukrainian national team will take place on March 26, 2026, where the team will compete against the Swedish national team. The final qualifying match will be against the winner of the Poland - Albania pair.

The situation with Matviy Safonov and his ex-wife highlights the importance of legal protection in alimony cases, which can spark disputes even after financial obligations have been fulfilled. This may have implications for future legal matters related to custody and child support. Meanwhile, the success of the Ukrainian national team in the World Cup qualifiers indicates the stable development of the team and its readiness for serious challenges in upcoming matches.
