A Unified Response System for Vulnerable Groups
In response to the ongoing energy crisis, Ukraine's Ministry of Social Policy and Ministry of Internal Affairs have established a joint system to process requests for social aid via the national emergency number, 112. This initiative is designed to streamline the delivery of essential support to those most in need during a challenging period for the country.
The 112 emergency service, operated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will now collect and forward requests for social assistance from specific vulnerable groups, including:
- Elderly citizens,
- People with limited mobility,
- Families with children.
Every call related to social support needs will be directed to the national social protection system for action.
This integrated approach ensures that necessary aid can be coordinated and delivered efficiently across all regions of Ukraine, allowing for a faster and more targeted response to the needs of vulnerable populations.
Significance of the New Program
This collaboration marks a critical advancement in strengthening Ukraine's social safety net. By linking emergency services directly with social support, the government aims to provide faster, more reliable assistance. The energy crisis has heightened risks for many, making such coordinated action vital for protecting citizen welfare during these difficult times.
