The fuel supply crisis in Russia is spreading

The deepening crisis of fuel supply continues in Russia. Restrictions on gasoline sales that previously applied in occupied Crimea and the Chelyabinsk region have now extended to the Tyumen and Sverdlovsk regions, as well as Novosibirsk, where one of the gas station networks reported a halt in the sale of certain types of fuel. This was reported by

citing Russian media.

Restrictions on regional gas stations

Restrictions have spread to both federal and regional gas station networks. For example, in the Tyumen region, the gas station network N-1 has set a limit of '30 liters in one go' for either 92 or 95 gasoline. In the Sverdlovsk region, gas stations of 'Lukoil' have stopped dispensing fuel in canisters, and only diesel remains at 'Bashneft'. In the Novosibirsk region, the gas station network 'Prime' has halted the sale of AI-92 gasoline at most of its stations.

  • Tyumen region: The gas station network N-1 has introduced a limit on fuel dispensing 'in one go' - no more than 30 liters of 92 or 95 gasoline at a time to prevent bulk purchases of fuel in canisters.

  • Sverdlovsk region: At 'Lukoil' gas stations, dispensing fuel in canisters has been halted. At 'Bashneft', gasoline is not available for sale. At Tamic Energy and Varta gas stations, a limit of 'no more than 30 liters per vehicle' has been imposed.

  • Novosibirsk region: The gas station network 'Prime' has stopped the sale of AI-92 gasoline at most of its stations.

The TPK network has also restricted the sale of AI-95 gasoline to fuel cards only, stating that this is due to 'a shortage of a certain type of fuel'.

Increase in fuel prices

Due to the shortage in the regions, prices have sharply risen. In the Novosibirsk region, the price for a liter of AI-92 at 'Tatneft' gas stations increased by three rubles in two days: from 59.5 rubles on October 6 to 62.5 rubles on October 8.

Russians explain fuel problems by Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries. Earlier, the limit on gasoline sales in Crimea was reduced to 20 liters per vehicle.

Russian authorities are considering the possibility of purchasing fuel from abroad due to the fuel crisis that has engulfed the country after attacks on oil refineries.

The increase in restrictions on fuel sales in Russia has led to a sharp rise in gasoline prices in regions, causing drivers to incur significant costs at the pump. The situation indicates deep issues in the oil refining industry in the country and requires immediate action from the government to address the crisis.
