Three-time champion of Ukraine in karate and president of the Kyiv City Federation of Kyokushin Karate Roman Kryvytskyi shared that after being injured in the autumn of 2023 near Bakhmut, he organized a children's karate tournament which helped raise funds to purchase a vehicle for his comrades.
After the injury, where Roman experienced problems with his left arm, he organized a tournament that involved around 600 children and earned over 200 thousand UAH. These funds helped buy a vehicle for his comrades. Roman noted that it was physically challenging to organize everything, but he understood the importance of providing assistance.
Kryvytskyi also talked about his injury during the war when shrapnel from an anti-tank grenade hit his left arm and head, saving him with his helmet.
In the interview, it was also mentioned that Norichika Tsukamoto supports Ukraine by organizing the Tokyo Open tournament, which invites Ukrainian athletes and coaches. This not only contributes to raising funds for Ukraine but also highlights the absence of Russians at international competitions due to Tsukamoto's significant stance. It was planned that he would visit Kyiv, but the visit was postponed due to security issues.
