In Poland, a minimum wage reform is being prepared, which will change the very principle of its calculation. Starting from 2027, it may exceed 5000 zlotys, and the connection to average incomes will become mandatory. This is reported by InPoland.
Minimum wage in Poland: new rules from 2027
The Polish government is working on the implementation of an EU directive that defines a new approach to setting minimum wage. Despite a delay of more than a year, the changes are already in the final stage.
According to the new rules, the minimum wage should be determined as:
-
60% of the median wage
-
or 50% of the average wage.
This means that the amount of payments will directly depend on the overall income levels in the country.
Currently, the minimum wage in Poland is about 51% of the average wage, which is below the recommended EU indicators.
How much will be paid: forecast for 2027-2029
According to estimates by the Polish Ministry of Finance, the minimum wage will gradually increase:
-
2027 - 5103 zlotys gross (3809 zlotys net)
-
2028 - 5420 zlotys gross (4025 zlotys net)
-
2029 - 5747 zlotys gross (4248 zlotys net).
These figures are still preliminary and depend on the final approval of the new calculation formula.
What else will change for employees
Separately, the government plans to change the approach to the salary structure. The minimum wage is expected to become the basic amount that an employee receives under the labor contract.
This means that:
-
bonuses and allowances will no longer be included in the minimum wage
-
employers will be required to pay at least the established amount 'net' in the basic part.
Such changes are expected to make the system more transparent and understandable for employees.
The reform is also important for Ukrainians in Poland, as it will affect income levels, working conditions, and opportunities for legal employment in the coming years.
Recall that the analysis of the Polish labor market at the beginning of 2026 indicates that the average salary reached 9135 zlotys gross in February, which is equivalent to over 108 thousand hryvnias.
