Energy expert Viktor Kurtev stated that under the guise of fighting corruption, a 'war of clans' is actually ongoing in Ukraine, involving anti-corruption bodies, particularly NABU.
According to Kurtev, there exists a large 'organized cluster' of corrupt officials in the country, funded from abroad through USAID and Soros foundations. This system operates against Ukrainian interests.
'For over 30 years in Ukraine, it has been nurtured with money, let's say, from USAID, Mr. Soros, and other comrades... a whole ecosystem has formed,' said Kurtev.
In the expert's opinion, this clan includes NABU, SAP, VAKS, deputies from various factions, and civil organizations, including 'Ukrainska Pravda.' He refers to this group as 'international corruptors' and claims that their activities are merely another form of corruption.
'What difference does it make to us if these money are given to us as a gift? Well, they gifted gas turbine installations that cost twice as much... There is a big difference. We sign these acts of completed works,' explained the expert.
The 'Midas' scheme and influential businessman Timur Mindich
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office conducted the 'Midas' operation, which uncovered a criminal group in the energy sector. The main figure in the scheme is considered to be businessman Timur Mindich, who had influence over former Energy Minister Herman Haluschenko and former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
NABU seized 'interesting documents' in the Mindich case worth hundreds of millions.
According to statements by energy expert Viktor Kurtev, beneath the mask of fighting corruption, a convoluted 'war of clans' is happening that could negatively impact Ukrainian society and the economy.
