The Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, Giuseppe Cavò Dragone, stated that the alliance will not abandon Ukraine until there is an opportunity for peace negotiations. The war between Russia and Ukraine continues, but it is time to seek an exit from the conflict through negotiations.
From an operational standpoint, 'it is almost time to sit at the negotiating table, as it is a senseless loss of life.'
Dragone believes that Russia's aggression against Ukraine has resulted in a strategic defeat for Putin, as it has led to the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO. He also warns of potential threats to the Baltic countries and promises a collective response from the alliance in case of aggression.
'NATO remains a nuclear alliance, but its strategy is aimed at deterrence,' emphasized Dragone.
Giuseppe Cavò Dragone also stressed the importance of strengthening defense in Europe and supporting countries that feel threatened. Modernizing security systems and collectively deterring aggressors is a priority task for NATO.
'The alliance is reliable, mature, and has a cohesion that is our center of gravity. The alliance is stronger than our adversaries, and we will support Ukraine until the day peace is achieved,' concluded Dragone.
The statements made by the Chairman of NATO's Military Committee indicate that the alliance is ready to continue supporting Ukraine and strengthening defense in Europe until a lasting peace is achieved and stability in the region is ensured.
