Trump on the war in Ukraine: Russia does not want to stop, but it will stop

Трамп про війну в Україні: Росія прагне продовжувати, але все ж повинна буде зупинитися.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated during a meeting with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at the White House on November 7 that a summit with the Russian leader in Budapest will not take place due to divergences in Moscow's position on the war in Ukraine.

'They [the Russians] still do not want to stop. But I think, ultimately, they will stop,' Trump told reporters, adding that there is still a chance for a meeting with Putin.

The American president also discussed with Orban the issue of sanctions against Russia and the possibility of granting Hungary an exemption to help it purchase Russian oil due to the difficult energy situation in the country.

'It is very hard for them to get oil and gas from other regions. As you know, they do not have access to the sea, ports, so they are in a difficult situation. By the way, there is another country with the same problem. But when you look at Europe, many countries do not have these problems, yet they buy a lot of oil and gas from Russia,' Trump explained.

President Trump expressed the position that a summit with Putin is impossible due to divergences in positions regarding the conflict in Ukraine. He is also considering the possibility of granting Hungary an exemption from sanctions for purchasing Russian oil, considering the complexity of the energy situation in the country.
