Military personnel who directly participate in combat operations during martial law receive a triple count of service time when calculating military pensions. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
How is service time calculated? One month of military service is counted as three months of service under the condition that the serviceman directly participated in activities necessary for the defense of the country, the protection of the population, and the interests of the state due to the armed aggression of Russia, being directly in the areas where these activities were conducted during the martial law. This rule is established by the Law on Pension Provision for Persons Dismissed from Military Service and Certain Other Persons.
Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the right to military pensions after 25 years of service or more. The amount of pension payments depends on the length of military service, which includes participation in combat operations. For the correct calculation of service time, commanders of military units must include in the personal files of servicemen special certificates confirming participation in defense activities during martial law.
This will allow for the correct calculation of pensions for Ukraine's defenders after the completion of their military service.
During the war, every day of military service requires tremendous sacrifice and dedication. Increasing military pensions for combat participants is an important support for those who risk their lives to defend the country.
