Diplomatic Corps Reshuffle
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a major reshuffle within the diplomatic corps. During a meeting with Pavlo Klimkin, the president stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing candidates for new appointments. Zelenskyy also announced the creation of a new special envoy position focused on Belarus and the Belarusian community in Europe.
"There will be personnel changes in the diplomatic corps," Zelenskyy declared, emphasizing the need for a more active policy in this area.
Pension Increases and International Cooperation
In a separate development, the president announced a planned pension indexation set for March. This increase will affect more than 10 million people, with pensions rising by over 12%.
"Another annual indexation of pensions will take place in Ukraine for more than 10 million of our people," Zelenskyy said, highlighting the importance of this step for social security.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, the preparation of a schedule for approving the strategy for the winter of 2026/27 was discussed. On the international front, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will serve as an advisor on the International Advisory Council for Ukraine's Economic Recovery, which operates under President Zelenskyy. The president's economic advisor is former Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland.
These moves come as Ukraine continues to navigate a complex geopolitical landscape and manage its economy during wartime. The diplomatic reshuffle and creation of new posts signal the Ukrainian leadership's intent to reinvigorate its foreign policy, particularly regarding Belarus. This reflects Ukraine's aim to adapt to new geopolitical conditions and strengthen cooperation with European partners. The planned pension indexation could significantly impact the country's socio-economic situation, providing additional support to a large segment of the population amid ongoing challenges. Furthermore, the involvement of international experts in economic recovery underscores the importance of global cooperation for improving Ukraine's economic outlook.
