Anatoliy Vovnyanko: 'One bunch of idiots replaced another' - disappointment with the results of the Maidan
Aviation designer Vovnyanko on power and disappointment
According to ХВИЛЯ: The creator of the An-225 "Mriya" airplane, Anatoliy Vovnyanko, sharply criticized the Ukrainian government in an interview with political analyst Yuriy Romanenko. He stated that there is no real elite in the country and that the events of the Maidan did not lead to any significant changes. Vovnyanko, who participated in both Maidans, admitted that he now considers his efforts to be in vain.
"The elite are those who develop the country, create something new. But if corrupt individuals and marauders come to power just to fill their pockets, what kind of elite is that?" - noted the aviation designer.
He bluntly stated that the concept of elite does not apply to Ukraine, as a true elite must create opportunities for the development of the state. His words reflect the sentiments of a part of society disappointed with the political processes of the last decade.
Vovnyanko openly expressed his thoughts on his participation in the protests: "I, like many, was a fool. I participated, like an idiot, in two Maidans... Then I realized that everything was scripted for one bunch of idiots to replace another. Nothing fundamentally changed." He linked the subsequent events - the loss of Crimea and the beginning of the war - to what happened during that period.
The Future of Aviation: Projects and Realities
Apart from his criticism, Vovnyanko talked about his work on a development program for a new aviation holding. He is confident that Ukraine is capable of creating inexpensive airplanes to combat drones. "We can make planes ten times cheaper than F-16s... for destroying 'Shaheds' and launching long-range missiles," - emphasized the designer, adding that he wrote numerous proposals on this subject.
In conclusion to the interview, Vovnyanko expressed deep disappointment with the representatives of power, stating that his experience of communicating with them was negative. "I, a simpleton, was led around in circles... I no longer trust anyone in this country," - he summarized.
The statements of the well-known aviation designer highlight the feeling of deadlock among some Ukrainians after extensive political upheavals. His opinion is valuable not only as a critique but also as a specialist proposing concrete ways for the development of domestic aviation, which is extremely important for the economy and defense under current conditions.
