Andriy Yermak Goes to the Front: Former Head of the President's Office Announced Decision After Resignation
Resignation of Andriy Yermak
Andriy Yermak, former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, announced his intention to go to the front after submitting his resignation amid searches conducted at his residence by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). This decision became known against the backdrop of a scandal related to a corruption scheme involving contracts from the state enterprise 'Energoatom', known as 'Mindyichgate'.
Yermak resigned in 2025. According to him, he made this decision to put an end to the speculations surrounding his persona. Olha Stefanishyna noted that Yermak's resignation was driven by a desire to stop the rumors and discussions that had arisen around him. In light of these events, Yermak also confirmed his desire to serve Ukraine, stating:
“I served Ukraine and was in Kyiv on February 24, 2022” - Andriy Yermak
It should be reminded that it was on February 24, 2022, that Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, and on that day Yermak was in the capital. It is also worth noting that he led the Ukrainian delegation in negotiations regarding a peace plan with the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump. However, his name became associated with a scandal where businessman Timur Mindych is named as the organizer of a corruption scheme involving 'Energoatom' contracts.
Readiness to Serve
Concluding his statement, Andriy Yermak emphasized his readiness for any reprisals, stating:
“I am going to the front and ready for any reprisals” - Andriy Yermak
This step evidently indicates his intention to take an active part in defending Ukraine during the war.
The resignation of Andriy Yermak and his intention to go to the front highlight the difficult situation in Ukraine, where elements of political crisis intertwine with war. In circumstances where the country faces external aggression, such personal decisions can impact the morale of society. At the same time, corruption scandals and searches of high-ranking officials jeopardize citizens' trust in state institutions, which may have serious repercussions for political stability in the country.
