Andrii Yermak resigned on the eve of key negotiations with Trump's team
Andrii Yermak's Resignation
Andrii Yermak resigned one day before the meeting with Donald Trump's team in Miami to agree on arrangements between the U.S. and Ukraine. This meeting, which was planned for the near future, was an important stage in negotiations taking place at the international level.
Negotiations and Their Results
The negotiations had already begun earlier, specifically in Geneva on November 23, where changes to Trump's 28-point plan were discussed. It was noted that the number of points in the plan had been reduced, and the U.S. agreed to make adjustments based on Ukrainian proposals. At the same time, Ukraine is not being asked to give up the territories it controls. Security guarantees were strengthened in accordance with the principles of NATO Article 5.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that the timelines for negotiations had become 'significantly more flexible.' Moreover, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced new negotiations planned for the end of this week. Against the backdrop of these events, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that hostilities would only cease if the Armed Forces of Ukraine left 'the territories they occupy.'
Andrii Yermak's resignation may indicate possible changes in the Ukrainian team's strategy for negotiations with the U.S., which are gaining new momentum. Given that negotiations are ongoing and Russia's position remains rigid, it is important to monitor the further steps of both sides and their impact on the security situation in the region. The next few days could be crucial for determining Ukraine's future course in the context of international politics and relations with the U.S.
