Tarás Stepánenko Moves Into Coaching
According to Главком: Andriy Shevchenko, president of the Ukrainian Association of Football, has addressed Tarás Stepánenko after the latter ended his playing career and joined the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team. Stepánenko, a product of the Metalurh Zaporizhzhia academy, earned 87 caps for his country and scored four goals. He also represented Ukraine at three European Championships: in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
The bulk of Stepánenko's career was spent with Shakhtar Donetsk, where he played for 15 seasons. During that time, he collected 25 trophies, made 439 appearances, and found the net 30 times. His final match as a player came with Kolos Kovalivka. Now he will work under Italian manager Andrea Maldera. “What a brilliant career - thank you for your dedication to football and to the Ukrainian national team. Congratulations on moving to the next stage of your football journey. I wish you success in your work with the national team coaching staff.”

The Significance of Stepánenko's Transition
Stepánenko's move into the coaching setup of the Ukrainian national team marks a crucial milestone not only in his personal career but also for the development of the side. Given his vast experience and deep knowledge of the game, he could become a valuable asset for younger players. The return of Andriy Yarmolenko and the inclusion of potential debutants also point to an active restructuring of the squad, which could positively impact the team's performances on the international stage.
As Stepánenko embarks on this new chapter in his career, it's worth noting the significant changes within the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team. His collaboration with Andrea Maldera's team could greatly influence the team's dynamics and development, especially with the integration of other former players and emerging talents.
