Dan Greaney Announces Bid for U.S. President in 2028

According to Главком: Dan Greaney, a writer for the animated series 'The Simpsons,' has declared his candidacy for the 2028 U.S. presidential election. He plans to run as a progressive Republican, signaling his aim to revive traditions associated with figures like Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. At 61 years old, Greaney stated that his campaign centers on rejecting a politics of despair, supporting universal healthcare, and implementing a 'Green New Deal.'

How a 'Simpsons' Episode Echoed Real Politics

A 2000 episode titled 'Bart to the Future' sparked renewed discussion after Donald Trump’s 2016 victory. In that episode, Lisa Simpson becomes U.S. president after Trump, leading viewers to draw parallels with real-life events. Greaney clarified that the episode was meant as a cautionary tale about the consequences of political choices, not a literal prediction.

Potential frontrunners for the Republican primaries include:

  • Vice President JD Vance
  • Secretary of State Marco Rubio

Greaney, who has occasionally voted Republican in the past, shared his views on the current U.S. political landscape. He remarked:

“Trump, Vance, billionaires, careerists, and cowards from both parties have turned away from the U.S. For them, it’s about money, power, and safety-but not for you.” - Dan Greaney

He also stressed the need to restore democratic norms, saying: “In America, government should work for everyone’s benefit. Democracy for all, accountability for all, prosperity for all. We need to bring that back.” Greaney aims to draw attention to serious issues requiring solutions and believes it’s crucial to portray America in a troubled state: “We needed to show America in a difficult condition. That’s why we made Trump president before Lisa.”

With a law degree and having passed the bar exam, Dan Greaney hopes his campaign will engage voters and reshape the country’s political landscape. 'As for what happens next… you’ll just have to wait and see. Though I actually already know how it ends,' he said, expressing confidence in his plans.

Greaney’s entry into the presidential race adds a new dimension to U.S. politics, where traditional party lines and ideologies are increasingly blurred. Amid growing polarization and instability in American politics, his stance as a progressive Republican could attract both voters and media seeking fresh formats and ideas for the nation’s future.
