The whip from the Indiana Jones movie sold for over 500 thousand dollars
The whip from the 'Indiana Jones' movie was sold at auction
The whip wielded by Harrison Ford in the film 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade', which once belonged to Princess Diana, was sold at auction for 525 thousand dollars (€452 thousand). This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing Euronews Culture.
After filming ended, Ford gifted the whip to then-Prince Charles at the film's premiere in the UK in 1989. Later, the whip was passed to Princess Diana, who gave it to its current owner, whose name remains unknown.
'The bullwhip is a symbol of the iconic film character, Indiana Jones, and became a highlight of this auction,' noted Joe Maddalena, Executive Vice President of Heritage.
Other interesting lots at the auction
At the same auction, the 'Rosebud' sled from 'Citizen Kane' (1941) was sold for 14.75 million dollars, becoming one of the most expensive props in film history. This lot belonged to director Joe Dante of the film 'Gremlins', who decided to sell it.
Also impressive are the pocket watches found among the belongings of a passenger who perished on the 'Titanic'. They may be sold for an amount up to £50,000. These watches were retrieved from the body of 27-year-old Danish man Hans Kristensen Givar, who traveled to America with two friends who also died in the disaster.
Several interesting lots were showcased during the auction, including the whip from 'Indiana Jones', the sled from 'Citizen Kane', and the pocket watches from 'Titanic'. All these items from film history attract the attention of collectors and cinema enthusiasts ready to spend significant amounts of money to have them in their collections.
