Alla Belinska became the world champion in wrestling
According to glavcom.ua: Our Ukrainian heroine in the 72 kg category defeated her opponent from Turkey in the final, winning the gold medal. This is the second victory of our women's team in this competition and indeed for Ukraine at this World Championship. Alla Belinska is also the first Ukrainian wrestler to win a world championship in seven years.
Our other heroines, Iryna Kolyadenko (up to 65 kg) and Anastasia Alpeeva (up to 76 kg), could not win bronze medals - they lost in the matches for third place. The Greco-Roman style athletes have also begun their competition. Currently, Ihor Bychkov (up to 77 kg), Ruslan Abdiyev (up to 82 kg), and Mykola Kuchmiy (up to 130 kg) have a chance to compete for bronze medals.
It should be noted that Ukraine ranked 10th in the medal standings of the European Youth Olympic Festival. The Ukrainian team won 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals in this competition. This is the second most successful performance of our athletes in the history of the Festival, which has been held since 1993. Our team won the most medals in 2019 - there were 25 victories then.
The team of Ukrainian athletes continues to delight us with their victories, earning new awards and outstanding results in international competitions. At the world wrestling championship and the European Youth Olympic Festival, our athletes continue to confirm their high professional skills and fight for victories.
