Word of the successful test emerged on August 10, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. The full-scale engineering prototype had already completed the first stage of hover and low-speed testing, and full transition flights are scheduled for summer 2026. Certification efforts are advancing in both Brazil and the United States, with eVTOL aircraft increasingly seen as a pillar of future urban air mobility.

ANAC, Brazil's aviation regulator, began its certification process for the Eve 100 in early 2022, and the initial airworthiness criteria were published two years later. In July 2023, ANAC launched formal consultations on updated criteria. Eve also initiated a U.S. certification path with the FAA in 2023, aiming to secure type certification in the United States at the same time as ANAC approval in Brazil.

Partnerships and Emerging Aviation Technology

Eve has confirmed an official partnership with Florida to create the SunTrax Air research and development center. The company holds about 2,700 pre-orders for its electric aircraft, which can carry four passengers plus a pilot; a future autonomous configuration would carry up to six passengers. Its stated fully electric range is 100 km (60 miles).

Separately, Lockheed Martin's Sikorsky unit has announced first test flights of the Nomad 100 drone. Built for DARPA's ANCILLARY program, announced in 2023, the vehicle is designed to support launch and recovery without dedicated infrastructure. Taken together, Eve eVTOL and Nomad 100 mark significant progress in expanding what modern aviation can achieve.
