Starting from 2026, fuel in Ukraine will rise sharply in price: how much prices will increase

The government of Ukraine has decided to raise the excise tax on fuel starting from the beginning of 2026, which may lead to an increase in prices at gas stations. According to the Ministry of Finance, the excise rates will be increased for all types of fuel: gasoline, diesel, and liquefied gas.

Market participants and analysts predict that these changes may affect final prices for consumers, adding up to 2 hryvnias to the price per liter of fuel due to the excise component. The founder of the Prime Group of Companies, Dmytro Lyoshkin, claims that the lack of state regulation, changes in excise taxes, and logistics will also lead to rising fuel prices.

Experts warn that a possible increase in fuel prices of 7-10%, along with a markup of up to 5% on the cost of fuel, is likely. This may lead to a fuel crisis this winter at the level of 30-40%, causing a sharp increase in prices and supply issues.
