According to glavcom.ua: As a result of the explosion in the Zhytomyr region in the village of Berezino, the Kmytiv Museum of Fine Arts named after Yosyp Buhanych suffered serious damage. This was reported by 'Hlavkom' citing the museum's Facebook page.

The explosion damaged the windows, frames, and curtains that protected the exhibits from light. The stained glass windows on both floors were covered with cracks, and the exhibition found itself among shards of glass. The museum's doors and collections were also affected.

History of the Museum

The Kmytiv Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1974 by artist, front-line soldier, and collector Yosyp Buhanych. The museum has a unique collection of socialist realism, Ukrainian modernism, and 20th-century art: about 3,000 works of painting, graphics, and sculpture, presented in 10 halls.

The exhibition contains works by Tatiana Yablonska, Serhiy Hryhoriev, Mykola Hlushenko, Anatolii Kush, and other masters. The museum is an important cultural center of the region, representing both classical and modern Ukrainian masterpieces.

Unfortunately, the Kmytiv Museum of Fine Arts in the Zhytomyr region has suffered significant damage as a result of the explosion. Windows, frames, curtains, and doors were damaged, and the fragile exhibition was caught among shards of glass. Founded by the famous artist Yosyp Buhanych, the museum plays an important role in the cultural life of the region, showcasing unique works of painting and sculpture that are true assets of Ukrainian culture.
