Meat and oil prices before the New Year: where to buy cheaper
According to ХВИЛЯ: In Ukraine, prices for meat, eggs, and sunflower oil have risen ahead of the New Year. Good offers can be found in popular retail chains, but overall prices remain high.
Meat Prices
Chicken remains one of the most in-demand types of meat. The price for a kilogram of chicken fillet in the chain:
- Auchan – 189.00 UAH
- Megamarket – 254.10 UAH
- Novus – 234.00 UAH
The average price for chicken thighs is around 139 UAH, while at Novus it can be purchased for 119 UAH and at Megamarket for 159 UAH. Prices for chicken thighs vary: in some outlets, it costs 127 UAH/kg, while chicken back quarter is priced at 99 UAH/kg.
Pork, particularly neck, shows high prices: at Megamarket, its cost reaches 360 UAH/kg, while at Novus, it is priced at 319 UAH/kg. As for pork ribs, prices fluctuate between 225 to 240 UAH/kg, and pork shoulder is sold for 190-200 UAH/kg.
Egg and Oil Prices
Egg prices are also disappointing consumers. A dozen of category C1 eggs costs between 65 to 83 UAH, while category C0 eggs (10 pcs) have a price range of 68-72 UAH.
The average price for Kamy sunflower oil (1 L) is about 81.65 UAH. At the Capital Market, Kamy sunflower oil is also offered at a similar price.
Therefore, buyers should pay attention to prices in various retail chains, as good offers can significantly reduce expenses on products for the festive table.
The rise in prices for essential food products before the holidays is a typical phenomenon that can affect household budgets. It is crucial for consumers to compare prices in different stores and take advantage of promotions to reduce shopping expenses.
