According to hvylya.net: The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office informed the acting head of one of the Central Regional Directorates of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine about the suspicion of soliciting and receiving a bribe of $1.3 million for the construction of a high-rise building for military personnel in Kyiv.

According to SAP, the actions of the official are classified under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Within the framework of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the acting head of the directorate, using his official position, was supposed to ensure the victory in the tender for the construction of a land plot in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital for a previously designated participant in exchange for a monetary reward of $1.3 million.

Involving others in the commission of this crime and choosing the future winning partnership, the official began conducting the tender.

To prevent disclosure, the money was to be transferred in three installments through bank safe boxes:

• $100,000 - to start the tender;
• $400,000 - to sign the construction contract;
• $800,000 - after the completion of the first stage of construction.

After announcing the tender, the director of the partnership requested to reduce the total amount of the illegal remuneration to $1 million and agreed to provide the first part of the negotiated funds immediately.

'The accomplices of the official of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine were exposed in early June of this year immediately after receiving part of the funds. Currently, SAP and NABU have gathered enough evidence to notify the executor of the crime - the head of one of the Central Regional Directorates of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine - of suspicion,' the statement said.

The suspicion against the Ukrainian Defense Ministry official concerns the solicitation and receipt of a bribe of $1.3 million for the construction of a residential complex for military personnel in Kyiv. The official is suspected of corrupt schemes during the tender for the construction of the land plot, for which he faces legal consequences. The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has sufficient evidence to notify of suspicion and conduct an investigation into this case.
