Diesel at 90 UAH next week: expert Kiyun warned about fuel price increase

Fuel prices in Ukraine are sharply rising against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East and a spike in oil quotes. Diesel is currently under the most pressure, which may significantly increase in price in the coming days. This is reported by RBC Ukraine.

According to the director of the A-95 Consulting Group, Serhiy Kiyun, during the week, the price of diesel fuel may reach 90 UAH per liter. The reason is the sharp rise in global oil prices following attacks by Iran on energy infrastructure in Qatar.

Key factors for the price increase:

• The EU has refused Russian fuel
• Europe depends on supplies from the Middle East
• escalation in the region creates risks of shortage
• Brent oil price exceeded 110 dollars per barrel

Diesel reacts the fastest, as a significant part of its imports come from this region.

Monitoring prices on March 19 shows that costs are already rising in all fuel segments. For example:

• OKKO: diesel up to 85.99 UAH, gasoline A-95 up to 73.99 UAH
• WOG: diesel up to 84.99 UAH, gasoline A-95 up to 72.99 UAH
• SOCAR: diesel up to 84.99 UAH, gasoline A-95 up to 72.99 UAH
• Ukrnafta: diesel up to 77.99 UAH, gasoline A-95 up to 68.99 UAH.

Autogas has also risen in price, which exceeds 45 UAH per liter in most chains.

Diesel price forecast: will there be a fuel shortage

Experts predict further increases in diesel prices due to global factors. At the same time, gasoline is rising in price more slowly due to a surplus in Europe.

Serhiy Kiyun notes that filling station networks may partially offset the sharp increase in diesel prices by raising gasoline prices.

"I do not rule out that networks may raise the price of gasoline somewhat more and thereby slow down the increase in diesel prices," - he explained.

It should be noted that despite the price spike, a fuel shortage in Ukraine is not expected. Current stocks are sufficient to meet domestic demand, including agricultural needs in April.
