Dnipro plans to replenish its electric transport fleet with new multi-section trams designed for passengers with reduced mobility. Up to 7.79 million euros have been allocated for the purchase, and applications from participants in the international tender will be accepted until mid-October. This is reported by the official portal of European Union tenders.

The international tender was announced by KP “Dnipro Electric Transport” in collaboration with the European Investment Bank. This concerns the procurement of new multi-section carriages approximately 26-27 meters long.

One of the main requirements for the new transport is a low floor, which facilitates boarding and alighting of passengers. The carriages should also be equipped with ramps for people with reduced mobility and an air conditioning system.

The capacity of one such tram will be around 250 passengers, with approximately 60 seats planned for sitting. The maximum purchase price is set at the level of 7.79 million euros.

Proposals from potential suppliers will be accepted until October 15, 2026. The procurement is part of the project “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II,” which is being implemented by the Ministry of Community and Territory Development of Ukraine and the European Investment Bank.

How Dnipro is updating electric transport in 2026

Low-floor carriages are no longer new for the city. Three such trams are currently in operation on route No. 1. By the end of 2026, Dnipro is set to receive two more new carriages under a previously signed contract.

The current tender aims to continue the modernization of the tram fleet and increase the share of transport accessible to people with disabilities, elderly passengers, and parents with strollers.

At the same time, the city is updating the trolleybus fleet. Within the same project, Dnipro is expecting 15 new trolleybuses. The contract for their supply was signed at the beginning of 2026.

Recall that on June 29, Russia struck Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro, targeting civilian transport and enterprises.
