Former Minister of Lithuania Treated Wounded in Ukraine: Mission Details

Former Minister of Health of Lithuania Aurimas Pečkauskas spent two weeks in the combat zone in Ukraine, where he helped treat the wounded. The ex-minister himself mentioned that this was already his third trip to Ukraine, where he, while still a minister, visited medical facilities and this time came as a volunteer of the Lithuanian public organization Blue/Yellow. He worked in the Donetsk region together with mobile surgical teams, assisting the wounded and bringing medical equipment purchased by Lithuanian organizations.

The leading Baltic countries are developing evacuation plans for the civilian population in case of Russian aggression. After the onset of the full-scale war against Ukraine in 2022, they have further strengthened security measures. The Russian defense industry is increasing tank production and plans to pose a long-term military threat to NATO.
