The EU has allocated 90 billion euros to Ukraine: what the funds will be used for and when we will receive them
The EU has allocated 90 billion euros to Ukraine
According to Студия Руслана Бизяева: The European Union has decided to allocate a stabilization loan to Ukraine in the amount of 90 billion euros (approximately 102 billion dollars) for the years 2026-2027. The decision was made in Brussels after prolonged negotiations. However, the funds will not arrive until mid-April, while Ukraine's budget needs start from January 1. According to estimates from European economists, the current financial situation will suffice for the first quarter of 2026.
Financial situation
A significant portion of the amount – 25% or about 18 billion euros – is covered by Germany. Meanwhile, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia have refused to allocate funds from their budgets, complicating the process. The loan is aimed at covering Ukraine's budget deficit, but, as analysts note, this will not drastically affect the military situation.
Against this backdrop, Vladimir Putin stated his willingness to end the war on the terms outlined in the summer of 2024:
"the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions" - Vladimir Putin
Reacting to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated:
"It is not up to Putin to decide how and in what format elections will be held in Ukraine" - Volodymyr Zelensky
