According to Главком: During her trip to Chișinău, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas stressed the importance of drawing up a clear set of demands for the Russian Federation before any potential negotiations can move forward. A key point she highlighted is the withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria. Kallas criticized the current state of dialogue, stating that
“the ongoing peace talks are essentially going nowhere”

Debating Conditions for Russia
Kallas proposed that EU foreign ministers compile a list of demands for Russia several months ago, and these issues are being discussed during meetings taking place in late May. She emphasized that 'the removal of Russian forces from Transnistria should also be among the EU's conditions for Russia.' At the same time, Russia is pressing Europe to lift sanctions, highlighting rising bilateral tensions.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia will not take the initiative to restore contacts, underscoring the lack of an active stance from the Russian side. European Council President António Costa confirmed that preparations for talks with Russia are still being discussed. This suggests that despite the critical situation and uncertainty, European leaders continue to seek ways to establish dialogue. The news was reported by Glavcom.
Kaja Kallas’ remarks underscore the European Union’s growing concern over the situation in Ukraine and neighboring regions. The withdrawal of Russian troops from Transnistria could prove crucial for regional stability and for advancing the negotiation process. With both sides maintaining rigid positions, preserving dialogue and seeking compromises remain essential to achieving peace.
