The European Union Promises Funding for Ukraine for 2026-2027
President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, stated that EU countries will make a decision regarding funding for Ukraine for the next two years, including the purchase of military equipment. This will be a clear signal to Russia.
'Today, at this European Council, we will adopt a political decision regarding financial support for Ukraine for 2026 and 2027, including the purchase of military equipment. This is a very strong signal for Russia,' emphasized the EU president.
Antonio Costa highlighted the importance of EU support for Ukraine 'as much as is needed, and under any conditions' and assured that the summit is crucial to send a clear signal of support to the country.
Support for Ukraine in Reporting and Diplomatic Terms
The President of the European Council also emphasized the need to increase support, as Russia's actions under President Putin threaten the peaceful population and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. He called on Russia to engage in peace negotiations and to cease violence.
'Russia must stop killing civilians in Ukraine and destroying civilian infrastructure. It must actively participate in diplomatic efforts, including those proposed by President Trump, to engage in peace negotiations,' emphasized Antonio Costa.
It is important to note that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is already attending the summit in Brussels and intends to actively participate in negotiations, which may facilitate effective dialogues and support from international partners.
