Entry restrictions in Estonia and calls from Latvia

According to Главком: Estonia has restricted entry for 261 individuals who participated in the war against Ukraine and plans to continue this practice. The head of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, stated that hundreds of thousands of fighters from the aggressor state took part in this brutal war, committing atrocities and sowing violence.

“There is no place for them in Estonia and in the Schengen area,” he noted.

Alongside these actions, the Minister of Interior of Latvia, Richard Kozlovskis, urged European Union countries to stop issuing Schengen visas to Russians. This indicates the growing concern among EU countries regarding security in the region and the need to take measures to prevent such threats.

Further measures and efforts of the Baltic states

Margus Tsahkna also emphasized that this is just the beginning of measures aimed at combating aggression. At the same time, EU countries agreed to impose new travel restrictions on Russian diplomats.

“They are assigned to one place but work elsewhere,” noted an unnamed senior EU diplomat.

Thus, Estonia and Latvia are taking active measures to reduce the influence of Russian aggressors, which could serve as an example for other EU countries in combating the consequences of the war in Ukraine.

The measures taken by Estonia and Latvia indicate the growing determination of the Baltic states to counter Russian aggression, especially in the context of the war in Ukraine. These actions will likely influence the policies of other EU nations that are also seeking ways to enhance security and prevent further aggression from Russia. In light of recent events, EU countries may be compelled to reassess their immigration and visa policies to address new security challenges.
