Call for the creation of a unified European army

According to ХВИЛЯ: European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius called for the establishment of a unified European army consisting of 100,000 soldiers during a conference held in Selene, Sweden. The conference, titled 'Europe Under Pressure', served as a platform to discuss current security issues in Europe.

Kubilius emphasized the need to establish a European Security Council (ESC) that should consist of about 12 countries. He noted that Brussels must be prepared for a scenario where Washington decides to withdraw its troops from the continent. According to him, if American troops leave Europe, the question will arise of how European countries will create a European pillar of NATO.

Support for the idea of a unified army

Furthermore, the results of a survey conducted in Belgium, Germany, and Spain show that about 70% of citizens in these countries support the idea of creating a unified EU army. These data indicate a growing support among the population for the formation of joint military structures in Europe, which could be an important step towards strengthening the continent's defense capability.

Kubilius's call for the establishment of a unified European army underscores the relevance of security issues in the changing geopolitical landscape. Support for the idea among the population of European countries indicates an increasing awareness of the need for collective actions to ensure stability on the continent. In light of possible changes in the military presence of the US in Europe, the creation of a joint army could become an important step in ensuring the independence and security of European states.
