Fedorov Sets One Condition: Only the Defense Minister Post Will Do
Mikhail Fedorov’s Stance
According to 5 канал: Mikhail Fedorov, the former defense minister, has made it clear he will only consider returning to his previous role as head of the Ministry of Defense. He views this position as one of just three that can directly shape the course of the war, ruling out any other government job offers.
According to Fedorov, only three roles currently have a direct impact on the conflict:
- President of Ukraine,
- Minister of Defense,
- Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
For this reason, he has turned down other opportunities within the government, stressing the critical importance of the defense minister’s role in both military operations and reform efforts. He emphasized that only the head of the Defense Ministry holds enough authority to tackle corruption in defense procurement, complete military reforms, and carry out asymmetric operations against the Russian aggressor. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Fedorov remains part of the presidential team, a statement made during a joint press conference with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin.
Ready for a New Term
Fedorov continues to underline his readiness to take on the defense minister role, highlighting its strategic importance amid the ongoing war.
These remarks from Mikhail Fedorov reflect not only his personal ambitions but also the strategic need for stable leadership in Ukraine’s defense sector during wartime.
